Ghandi said, ‘Be the CHANGE you want to see in this World.‘
Leo Tolstoy said, ‘Everyone thinks of changing the World, but no one thinks of changing himself.’
I have lived by the principle: For things to Change, I MUST FIRST CHANGE!
How can one embrace Personal Change?
Do not look to someone else to change you. If any changes were to be made, it’s only because YOU had given the permission to allow someone else to change you. You made the DECISION to be CHANGED.
Here’s an article from John C. Maxwell which I had come across some time ago, and I have thus lived by this principle henceforth…

-Extracted from John C. Maxwell-
After several years, I awakened to the thought that the only person who can change himself or herself is himself or herself. You can change yourself, but I cannot change you. You see, I am responsible to you but I am not responsible for you; and there is a world of difference between those two. I am responsible for teaching you good leadership. I am responsible for sharing things that can help add value to your life, but you are the only one who can take responsibility to change yourself, and that is what this whole article is about.
Most people need to look at the way that they look at change.
How many times have you heard somebody say, “I sure hope things will change.” The only way things will change for me is when I change. It has nothing to do with hope. You can’t just say, “Well, I just hope things will change around me,” and expect results. The only way that things will change for me is when I change.
I have also heard this before, “I don’t know why I’m this way.” Well, you are the way you are because that is the way you want to be. Let’s expose it for what it really is.
When you make the right personal changes, other things begin to turn out right.
So when people say, “I’d like things to turn out better for me; I’d like things to turn out right; I’d like things to turn out better in the organization, or in my family,” I say to them, “Start by making personal changes.”

So, how does one embark on the FIRST STEP towards CHANGE?
Step 1: Make a DECISION that you want to live a Different life.
You want things in your life to be different. You want circumstances in your life to be more ideal. Just as James Allen says, “Your circumstances may be uncongenial, but they shall not long remain so if you but perceive an ideal and strive to reach it.”
Step 2: Set a GOAL and WRITE your GOAL down. (Important to write it down)
There is a process to set GOALS. The normal Goal Setting process SUCKS. I’ve given a link below how you can have access to the audio recording of why Goal Setting sucks by Bob Proctor’s Master Coach DEV and how you can actually set a Goal and ACHIEVE It. GREAT insightful audio! Answers loads of people’s questions why they never achieve their goals.

Step 3: Set a 90 days Plan of Action to form that NEW & DIFFERENT habit
It takes 21 days to form a new habit. 90 days before this new habit becomes a conditioning or a part of us. Stick to it. Remember, for things to change, you must FIRST change.

This day, I had a renewed interest and had started once again to wonder what lies within the almighty newspapers these days, and what it has in store for the mankind of this Diwali Day. And I thought, just perhaps the papers will once again be filled with happy news about life and celebration…. And so, I began flipping the pages……..
And I began to wonder if my life would really change for the better if I had religiously flipped the papers every morning……… and my attention was caught by this HD Plasma TV that the store is giving up to 70% discount because of Deepavali Festival! Wow!! 70% discount…(I had somehow missed the tiny words ‘up to’), and the furniture warehouse sale NOT to be missed! Or yet another ½ page advert on the amazing 3G iphone package (hmm..I’m now seriously considering replacing my 1st generation 8GB iphone which had accompanied me for the last 2years). Perhaps I should consider investing in an air purifier too now that they are all on 50% discount!
Hmm…. Being a Life Coach, perhaps I ought to check out the seminars and workshops out there to keep myself abreast. And ho… there are only about 5 Forex and Trading seminars that say I will regret if I miss them. Or this Global Internet Summit which I shouldn’t miss too. So, perhaps I should throw a dart and let the dart decide the one I REALLY shouldn’t miss.

And when I got my partner the opportunity to conduct the UPW Previews for Success Resources in KL, UPW became even more of a Reality for me for the fact that …..Finally, I’m going to see Tony LIVE! I was so EXCITED about attending UPW in Singapore that my partner, Master Coach DEV & I actually made a decision to re-schedule our Train-the-Trainer certification in KL so that we can allow our participants to go for UPW as well! ———- and I must say, it was indeed a great decision we had both made!
Our new friend from Shanghai China whom we met on day 1 while at the queue. And my co-partners who will fight for my seat, Master Coach DEV & Jet while I hold on precariously to our daily supply of take-away food. (I can’t imagine how it would be I get trampled upon or the food….ghastly…)
